Travel in and around York

Getting to York

Nearest Airport: Leeds, Bradford or Manchester. Both have good train links to York, although the train station in Leeds is a taxi ride from the Airport.

Nearest Train Station: York. York's train station is right next to the city centre - a short walk into the centre itself, and a short bus ride to the University or surrounding areas.

Driving: Parking can be tricky in York - it's free at the University at the weekend and after 6pm, and during the week there are hour spots at the Information centre. There are several car parks in the City centre, all priced at around £2 an hour.

Getting around in York

Bus numbers 4 and 44 run between the train station, the city centre and the University regularly all day, every day. Wentworth Roundabout is the nearest stop to the Music Department (the first stop on campus) and the Library is the nearest stop to the Humanities Research Centre (the second stop on campus). One-way tickets are £1.50, Return tickets are £2 and day tickets on First buses (not number 44) are £3.80.
